Recommendation 68 |
Recommendation 68:-The Local Education Authorities and school governors have the duty to create and implement strategies in their schools to prevent and address racism.
The focus of this project is about the responsibility of all members of the school community to develop a school environment, which ensures an anti-racist approach.
|
Senior Management and Governors |
Senior Management and Governors have the responsibility to ensure that there are anti-racist policies and guidelines. However, it is the responsibility of every staff member to deal with racism and of all pupils/students to report racist incidents. The success of this depends upon all staff, governors, pupils/students being aware of racist language, racist bullying, racial harassment, and racial banter/jokes. |
Within the school community |
Within the school community different people see and experience racism and education in different ways. They may also have a different overall perspective as well as a different perception of the definitions of the problems to be solved. The school community needs to have a shared understanding of the nature and role of racism and specifically institutional racism, so that together they can identify and recognise what should be done in practice.
Staff, pupils and students have to develop positive working relationships with each other, and this means recognising and appropriately challenging racist behaviour; developing equality of opportunity in working practices by complying with policies; having a shared understanding about differences and similarities within the school community.

About |
Sportsreporter.co.uk is a new and revolutionary web site designed to reflect the governments’ values on:
Childhood obesity, Social inclusion, Community safety, Anti racism, Anti bullying, Healthy living.
In short it is about keeping children and young adults healthy, safe and out of trouble with the police and probation service.
The site is designed to enable all schools and clubs to celebrate the children’s success on a wider scale. This is a very important feature as schools and amateur clubs are no longer getting the free coverage they did years ago from the local press, it is about giving back our children the feel-good factor within schools and local communities.
We have been asked by a number of local authorities to help them in delivering very important messages to a young audience, these messages are based around the above subjects and are crucial to the future development of children, as we don’t want them growing up feeling that they are suffering in silence.
Along with the sports theme is the idea that the website can be used as part of the school curriculum, within a number of subjects such as Literacy, Numeracy, Art, ICT and Geography. We have developed a working relationship with a large number of professional sports clubs and private businesses. These are all providing Sportsreporter.co.uk with merchandise that we are using as prizes for the children. The children can win these fantastic prizes by entering one of our many monthly competitions that are based around the national curriculum. This is to motivate more children to get involved in these subjects.
We are currently working with 10 North West local authorities who are very supportive of Sportsreporter.co.uk and are actively encouraging their schools to join the website.
