NorthWest Wheelchair Football League:

North West Wheelchair Football League.
Greenbank Sports Academy.

On the 10th December four teams met at the Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool.
Halton Hawks (Chesnut Lodge School)
Maghull School
Sandfield Park School
Woodchurch School

Match 1 Halton Hawks 5 v 0 Woodchurch
Match 2 Maghull 2 v 3 Halton Hawks
Match 3 Sandfield Park 8 v 0 Woodchurch
Match 4 Halton Hawks 2 v 2 Sandfield Park

This was an extremely hard fort competition where everyone gave their all. From my point of view having never seen these children play sport before I found it eye opening, not only to see the smiles on their faces but to experience how competitive they all where.
It just seems a crying shame that these hard working schools don’t have the funding they require to do this sort of thing more often, as it is obvious that each child had a great day.

Halton’s wheelchair football team, The Hawks, competed in the powered wheelchair football fixture that was held @ Greenbank sports academy on Dec 10 2009.
The event was organised by the Everton Football Club Foundation as part of their ongoing and successful disability football programme.
The fixture was one of four that are being held once every school term till summer and teams from Merseyside and Wirral will compete against each other in a round robin format.
After all 4 fixtures are complete the team with the most points will be crowned league champions.
4 teams entered the first event, The Hawks, Woodchurch, Sandfield Park 1 & Sandfield Park 2
Both the Hawks and Sandfield Park 1 won their first 2 matches and went into the final tie against each other with 2 victories each.
The final match was a close fought game with the Hawks taking an early lead through Connor Hill. The score remained 1 - 0 until 2 minutes from the end when Sandfield equalised after mounting pressure. That’s how the score remained and both Halton Hawks and Sandfield 1 go into the next fixture on Feb. 11th 2010 tied at the top.
